Cape Breton Regional Enterprise Network

The Cape Breton Regional Enterprise Network (CBREN) is a collaborative effort between the Province of Nova Scotia (through the Department of Municipal Affairs) and the region’s partnering municipalities. CBREN activities are delivered by the Cape Breton Partnership with oversight from a private-sector board of directors. The CBREN’s area of focus include regional economic development, championing business growth, leveraging local knowledge, and overseeing the management of the Land and Asset Database. The partnering municipalities are:

  • The Municipality of the County of Inverness
  • The Municipality of the County of Richmond
  • The Municipality of the County of Victoria

Cumberland Business Connector

The Cumberland Business Connector is a business-led not for profit organization. Their focus is to foster a strong business environment in order to strengthen Cumberland County by removing barriers to business and connecting businesses with the resources they need to be successful. The Connector’s mandate follows three key pillars: influencing all levels of government to drive economic development, assisting and supporting existing businesses in Cumberland County, and working with youth to create a job-ready workforce. Our funding partners include:

  • Town of Amherst
  • Town of Oxford
  • The Municipality of the County of Cumberland
  • The Province of Nova Scotia

Eastern Strait Regional Enterprise Network

The Eastern Strait Regional Enterprise Network (ESREN) is mandated to deliver regional economic development through a collaboration between the Province of Nova Scotia and five municipal units. ESREN is focused on seven strategic areas which represent opportunities gained through our regionally diverse resources and our significant natural assets including: development of the naturally deep Strait of Canso, supporting new and existing business, and improving the conditions for business growth in these regions:

  • Municipality of the County of Antigonish
  • Municipality of the District of Guysborough
  • Municipality of the District of St. Mary’s
  • Town of Antigonish
  • Town of Port Hawkesbury

South Shore Regional Enterprise Network

The mandate of the South Shore Regional Enterprise Network (SSREN) is to guide and navigate regional economic development while providing support to businesses, operating as a connector among economic development partners, supporting business start-up, growth and retention, and providing leadership on economic priorities. The Network represents a partnership between the Province of Nova Scotia and the municipal units spanning the region. The SSREN is governed by a volunteer, private-sector board of directors with members representing each of the nine municipal partners:

  • Municipality of the District of Chester
  • Municipality of the District of Lunenburg
  • Municipality of the District of Shelburne
  • Town of Bridgewater
  • Town of Mahone Bay
  • Town of Lunenburg
  • Town of Lockeport
  • Town of Shelburne

Truro & Colchester Partnership for Economic Prosperity

Established in December 2017, the Truro & Colchester Partnership for Economic Prosperity is a fresh, new organization driving economic development in the Colchester region of Nova Scotia. The group, utilizing a regional approach, represents business and community leaders who want to grow the region through small business support and community development. The Truro & Colchester Partnership for Economic Prosperity focuses on business growth, entrepreneurship, promoting Colchester, investor readiness, and economic immigration. Funding partners include:

  • Town of Truro
  • Town of Stewiacke
  • Muncipality of the County of Colchester
  • Millbrook First Nation

Valley Regional Enterprise Network

The Valley Regional Enterprise Network (Valley REN) works in collaboration with our municipal and First Nation partners and the Province of Nova Scotia to create better solutions to support increased business activity, population growth, workforce development and investment. Together with the Province, our partners provide oversight to the Valley REN Board of Directors, which is led by the regional business community. Our regional partners are:

  • The Municipality of the District of West Hants
  • Town of Berwick
  • Town of Kentville
  • Town of Middleton
  • Town of Windsor

The Western Regional Enterprise Network (Western REN) works with existing regional firms to identify and overcome business challenges. With a proactive approach, the Western REN focuses on innovative and sustainable opportunities in the region’s wealth of natural resources. Its member municipalities are:
